ODM Secretary Generals post is officially vacant Ababu Namwamba

Budalangi Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba has said that despite the fact that he has not handed over his resignation letter, the position of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General is vacant.

Speaking after he met the German Ambassador to Kenya, Jutta Frasch, Wednesday morning, the Budalangi MP stated that he had on several occasions reiterated that he had resigned from the ODM Secretary General position.

“Can anything be more substantive than me saying it on several times that I have out of my own volition resigned? I have relinquished the position of Secretary General,” said Namwamba.

Asked when he would submit his letter of resignation to the ODM party, Namwamba reiterated his position.

“There is no doubt that I am no longer the Secretary General of ODM, let the party take note. I have relinquished the position of Secretary General. Those are matters of the past,” said the Budalangi MP.

Namwamba and Sirisia MP John Walukhe had been invited by the German Ambassador to Kenya to discuss many things, among them Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reforms as well as the formation of a third political force.

“The third force is a reality. The engagement with the International Community started today with the German Embassy. We are headed in a good direction for the good of all Kenyans,” said Namwamba.

Touching on CORD leader Raila Odinga’s trip to Western Kenya, the MP noted that while the opposition leader has the freedom to visit and talk to Kenyans in all corners of the country, “he should be aware that the Western Kenya of today is not that of yesterday.”

“This is the dawn of Mulembe consciousness. This genie has left the bottle and crossed the river. There is no going back,” stated Namwamba.

The MP noted  that Odinga had not been in Budalangi since 2007.

“It has been 9 years since Raila came to Budalangi to ask for votes when he was running for President. The people of Budalangi voted for him. He did not even visit when he was Prime Minister. I hope that when he visits, he will come with things that can change the people of Budalangi,” stated Namwamba.
