ODM sidelined as Wetangula, Kalonzo, Mudavadi plot NASA Alliance

The fall of NASA is official. This after the coalition’s co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula announced plans to launch NASA Alliance made up of Wiper, Ford Kenya and ANC.

In a statement signed by ANC deputy party leader Ayub Savula, leaders from the three NASA affiliate parties will  have first rally in Kakamega on March 24, to officially launch the NASA Alliance as well as drum up support for the initiative that seeks, among other things kick out ODM in parliamentary leadership positions.

Legislators from the three parties members are scheduled to meet on Saturday at Golf Club Hotel in Kakamega to charter the way forward.

“… Discuss and strategise the way forward in which they will choose and support one leader who will run for presidential position come 2022,” read the statement in part.

“…The parties will decide on whether to support another strong party candidate through an alliance agreed and signed among the parties.”

The three parties were however supportive of dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga but were strongly opposed the idea of joining Jubilee party.

Earlier on, the three NASA principals held a meeting in Karen believed to be centered on the “divorce talks” amid allegations of witch hunt by ODM leaders and being sidelined.

This comes just a day after ODM Senators wrote to Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka seeking the removal of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula as Minority Leader.

In their petition, the ODM leaders argued that ODM is the biggest minority in the House compared to Ford Kenya hence should produce a Minority Leader.

ODM has 20 Senators compared to Ford Kenya which has one.

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka however suspended the decision until the NASA coalition appoints a replacement following the prescribed manner.
