Ogiek To Sue Over Police Recruitment

Ogiek leaders have threatened to sue the National Police Service Commission saying it's rights had been infringed as no member of the community was recruited to join the police service

Led by the leader of the minority in Narok County Assembly, Bob Maren, the community is demanding the exercise to be nullified claiming it was marred by irregularities.

“We are going to the court to seeek our rights and the constitutional interpretation on rights of the minority, gender equality, regional balance and equity.”  Said Maren.

“The constitution spells out the rights of the minority and the marginalized communities which Ogiek falls under and which were breached during the exercise.” Added Maren

Maren was accompanied by the Ogiek Council of Elders Vice Chair Wilson Memuso and the Ogiek Spokesperson Sophy Tanki .

The leaders added that fairness and equality should be portrayed in employment in the country with all communities included.
