Ojaamong warns of possible collapse of NASA Coalition

Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has warned opposition leaders that their much-hyped National Super Alliance Coalition (NASA) may terribly fail if they continue to narrowly focus on capturing the presidency from the Jubilee Coalition and fail to encompass other issues affecting the country.

“They must develop an agenda for Kenya and not just searching for a formula to root Jubilee out of power,” said Ojaamong.

Ojaamong who was addressing a congregation of Salvation Army believers at Kolanya in Teso North pointed out at the ongoing leadership wrangles in Western Kenya are detrimental to the proposed coalition.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has shown wavering support for NASA coalition following endorsement of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader as the Luhya Community spokesperson.

Ojaamong reminded the opposition leaders that they have an obligation to provide alternative solutions to myriad challenges inflicting citizens.

All contenders of the proposed NASA coalition presidential ticket; Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya), pledged unity and support for a single candidate at a delegates meeting on Thursday January 12, 2016, held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

The four opposition big wigs have since moved out to their strongholds to rally their supporters to turn out in big numbers and register as voters in the mass registration drive set for kick off on Monday, January 16, 2017.

Both the ruling Jubilee Coalition and the opposition leaders are keen to register more voters in their strongholds during the exercise in a bid to win in the August 8 polls.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is targeting to register 6.1 million voters out of 9.1 eligible voters during the month-long exercise, which will close on February 15, 2017.
