Former KCC workers demand payment after 19 years

A section of casual workers who were contracted by the defunct Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) back in 1998 are now calling on the government to compensate them as they were dismissed from their jobs without any payment.

The Industrialisation Ministry has been tasked with revamping KCC after Treasury CS Henry Rotich allocated Ksh300million towards the same process in the 2017/2018 Budget.

Joseph Sanga, one of the former workers, said that they were laid off amid a crisis in KCC’s management and were therefore not paid their dues.

“I urge the government to compensate us our money, and consider re-employing some of us who are still energetic and able to inject experience in the new revamped KCC,” said Sanga.
