One dead, 2 injured in fresh Narok attacks

A 13-year-old boy was on Sunday night killed and two other people left nursing serious injuries in fresh attacks at Narok’s Mau border-line.

The two injured persons, a 12-year-old boy and an elderly woman, sustained deep machete cuts following the attacks at Esimenwa village of Olmekenyu, Narok south.

They have since been admitted at longisa Hospital in Bomet County.

Following the incident, tension now remains high despite the calm that was reported in parts of Ololoipangi, Naisuya and Olpusimoru during the weekend.

On Monday last week, one person was killed and seven others, among them a police officer, injured after rival traders clashed in Narok town.

The clash, which left twelve other suspects arrested, was as a result of demonstrations at Uhuru market over the alleged destruction of kiosks by the Narok County government.

The enraged Uhuru market traders then, in retaliation, set ablaze Muthurwa Market in Majengo estate, prompting police officers on scene to intervene and fire in the air to disperse them.
