One dead, hundreds displaced by floods in Baringo

One person reportedly died in Tangulbei, Tiaty sub-county, Baringo County, following heavy rains which pounded the area on Friday night.

Cheboro Natikor is said to have been swept away by Tangulbei River as she slept at night.

The river broke its banks washing away property including mortobikes, shops and other properties.

The raging waters washed away bridges making travel along the Loruk-Churo road impossible.

Baringo Deputy Governor Jacob Chepkwony said the county has dispatched disaster management personnel and Red Cross to the area to address the situation appealing to locals in flood prone areas to move to safer places.
