One dead in grisly road accident

A middle-aged boda boda operator was killed on Monday in a grisly road accident after his motorcycle was hit by a lorry at around 5pm in Kakamega Town.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the lorry was apparently drunk and over speeding when the accident took place.

“The lorry driver was driving at a high speed and lost control of the vehicle as he approached Oil Libya petrol station through Kenyatta Avenue,” said a witness.

Confirming the incident, Kakamega OCPD Tito Kilonzo said the boda boda operator died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.

The driver of the lorry gave himself up to the police and is currently being held as investigations into the accident continue.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Kakamega County General Hospital mortuary to await a postmortem.
