One dead, six injured in Kirinyaga accident

One person died on the spot while six others were seriously injured following a road accident involving two lorries at Mutithi along Mwea –Embu road in Kirinyaga County.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kirinyaga OCPD, Titus Yoma, said the 10pm accident occurred after a lorry heading to Makutano from Ngurubani collided head-on with an oncoming lorry that had six passengers on board.

The injured were rushed to Kerugoya Referral Hospital while the lorries were towed to Wang’uru  Police Station.

Police had a hard time containing the crowd that surrounded the lorry with some trying to loot from the victims of the accident.

“It is so bad for some people to take advantage of an accident to steal from the victims instead of helping them. Wananchi should stop such behaviors,” said  Githaka

Police have launched investigations to ascertain the real cause of the accident.
