Two die, one injured in cattle rustling incident

Two people have been confirmed dead while another sustained serious injuries at the Nandi-Luo border in Kopere area following the ongoing tension that arose after unknown people raided a village and drove off with 16 heads of cattle.

According to an eyewitness who sought anonymity, the bandits attacked Bishop Abuto Ogacho’s home at Kopere Village in Muhoroni Sub County, Kisumu County in broad daylight and stole the livestock.

“The rustlers inflicted serious cut injuries on the herdsman who was tending the livestock during the raid,” he said.

Reports indicate that the deceased, who has not yet been identified, was killed in retaliatory attacks as youths from the village attempted to track the stolen animals.

The injured herdsman was rushed to Maraba Sub-District Hospital in Tinderet for treatment, as police from Nandi and Kisumu counties keep guard in the area to help restore calmness.
