One killed, three injured in grisly road accident

One person was killed and three others seriously injured in a grisly road accident at Maungu along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

The accident occurred after two lorries collided head-on.

The injured were rushed to Moi Hospital in Voi for treatment while the deceased was taken to the mortuary in the same hospital.

Since the beginning of December, St John Ambulance has recorded a total of 25 road crash deaths and 71 injuries.

This is a significant drop in the number of fatalities compared to the same period last year, where more than 250 lives were lost.

Busia and Isiolo counties have the highest number of fatalities totaling to ten and four deaths respectively.

Other counties that have experienced fatal road accidents are Mombasa, Nakuru, Homa Bay, Nairobi, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Narok, and Kirinyaga.
