One killed, two injured in Laikipia attack

One person was killed and two others seriously injured after armed assailants attacked a village in Laikipia West Sub-County on Wednesday night.

The group armed with AK-47 riffles attacked Tinga-Mara village in botched attempt to steal livestock.


SHOT DEAD

A brother to the Sosian Ward MCA, Jacob Endung', was reportedly shot and died on the spot while his Son and a heards man were left seriously injured during the attack that took place at 8pm.
The raiders then proceeded to the nearby Mirango-Inne Village where they made away with an unknown number of livestock.

The injured were rused to Nyahururu District hospital and later transffered to Nakuru Provincial General Hospital for specialised treatment.


SECURITY MEETING

This incident occured even as security chiefs from Nakuru and Baringo counties convened a meeting at Waseges in lower Subukia to discuss recurrent cattle rustling in the area.
Waseges Member of County Assembly (MCA) Njenga Kang’ethe, who was attending the meeting decried a shortage of police officers and vehicles which  has in the past made it difficult to pursue the rustlers.
