One person killed in Makindu road accident

One person was killed following a grisly road accident at Ikoyo near Makindu along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

The driver of the lorry that was involved in the accident sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Makindu Hospital.

According to Makueni Police Commandant Joseph Ole Napeiyan, the lorry collided head on with a bus moving in the opposite direction.

The lorry was headed to Nairobi from Mombasa when the accident occurred at around 10pm.

Passengers in the bus are reported to have minor injuries and were treated and discharged.

The police boss cautioned motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

The body of the deceased was moved to Makindu Hospital mortuary.

This comes just two days after a bus christened Homeboyz was involved in an accident at Fort Ternan area in Kericho killing over 50 people.

According to eye witnesses and survivors, the driver of the bus was speeding despite the road having sharps bends and poor signage.
