One woman dead, another hospitalised after rape ordeal

Police have launched investigations following a rape incident that left one woman dead and another recuperating at Embu Level Five Hospital.

According to Kiriari Deputy County Commissioner Benjamin Birech, the two were found at a market in the area but the suspects are yet to be identified.

Reports indicate that the two women were intoxicated before being raped and police are interrogating the survivor to get more details.

Mr. Birech however criticised residents for overindulgence in alcohol saying it puts them at risk of such incidents.

He announced an 11p.m. curfew saying that though police will be patrolling the area, criminals are still at large and they are known to take advantage of those who stay in bars late into the night.

The commissioner also maintained that bars which violate the Alcohol and Substance Act will be closed and their licenses revoked.
