Blow to Kisumu Speaker Onyango Oloo as impeachment upheld

Onyango Oloo suffered another blow on Tuesday after the Labour and Relations High court in Kisumu threw out a case challenging his impeachment.

According to High Court Judge Justice Nduma Nderi, the case filed by Oloo lacked merit.

The court further ordered that Oloo to return all properties belonging to the assembly.

Justice Nderi averred that the impeachment proceedings by the members of the county assembly to impeach him met the 75% threshold.

He said analysis of the evidence before the court indicated that the conditions required for impeaching a speaker were met.

The judge faulted Oloo saying he was given an opportunity to defend himself but failed to turn up at the assembly on September 18.

On the graft case facing Oloo in regards to the LBDA mall scandal, the judge ruled that it had no bearing on the impeachment case.
