Outrage as rapist roams free while victim delivers his baby

Various lobby groups in Kiambu County are now pressurising the local administration to pursue a serial rapist who remains at large after one of his victims delivered a baby.

Speaking when they visited the victim at her home in Kiambururu Village, Githunguri, the lobby groups, together with a group of ward administrators from Kiambu County, noted that it was sad for the suspect to roam freely yet he had been identified by those who knew him.

Kiambu County Government pledged to support the victim by setting up a new business for her to help cater for the child’s expenses.

Local residents decried the high cases of defilement in the area, insisting that action should be taken and perpetrators brought to justice.

Man defiles class two pupil

Meanwhile, police officers at Bondeni Police Station in Nakuru County are on the spot after they released a man suspected of defiling a class two pupil of St Pauls’ Primary School in Bondeni Estate on Saturday.

The suspect is said to have defiled the 8-year-old orphan while she was headed home from school by taking her into a latrine and threatening to stab her if she revealed the information to anyone.

According to the aunt of the pupil, the suspect was released from custody under unclear circumstances and without their knowledge after medics at Nairobi Women’s Hospital – Nakuru branch – confirmed that she had been defiled.

Angela Gwaro, who is in charge of the gender violence recovery center at the hospital, said that the penetration was not extreme, adding that the child will be put under medication in order to manage the abnormalities noted

Gwaro added that at least ten defilement cases are attended to in the hospital daily.

Father impregnates daughter

At the same time, a 40-year-old man has been locked up at Kapsoya Police Station in Eldoret after he allegedly defiled and impregnated his 13-year-old daughter.

The standard six pupil revealed that her father has been defiling her since 2014 at their home in Kimumu Estate, Uasin Gishu County and had threatened to kill her if he told anyone.

She said that her father raped her frequently at night and on weekends when her mother was away at work but when she reported the matter to her mother she ignored and threatened to beat her for propagating lies.

The girl eventually confided to their neighbour who informed security agents and her father was arrested.

Area Chief William Sang confirmed the incident saying the he confronted the man over the allegations, which he accepted, pleading that the matter be settled ‘locally’.

The father of two was later remanded at Kapsoya Police Post awaiting arraignment in court on Monday.
