Over 100 admitted to hospital with food poisoning

At least 100 people were on Saturday, December 17, hospitalised at various health facilities in Bomet County after consuming contaminated food Friday.

The affected persons from Kinyelwet Village in Sotik Sub-County, Bomet County ate the contaminated food at a party which was organised to celebrate newly initiated boys in the village.

Sotik Sub-County health officer Luzina Bett confirmed the incident.

All patients admitted to various hospitals for emergency treatment complained of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and dizziness.

Following the incident, the County Government of Bomet has dispatched to Kinyelwet Village a team of medical experts to collect samples of contaminated food for testing.
