Over 1000 stolen livestock recovered in Suguta Valley

Over 1,100 livestock stolen from Turkana South, Turkana East and Turkana Central sub counties have finally been handed back to their owners.

This was after the livestock were recovered in an operation led by local leaders at the famous Suguta Valley, otherwise known as the ‘valley of death’.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the leaders faulted security personnel on the ground for their failure to repulse banditry attacks in the area.

According to the leaders, poor communication infrastructure in the area has hampered efforts to fight banditry.

The leaders are now calling for infrastructural development in the area to help end the menace.

They further called on locals to exercise patience and avoid retaliatory attacks as efforts are made to recover other missing livestock.
