Over 200 famlies rendered homeless in Kitui County

Over 200 families living near Kanyonyo AP Training College in Lower Yatta, Kitui County, have been rendered homeless after their homes were demolished Friday night.

The affected families were reportedly caught unaware by the college hostel officers who destroyed their houses, and property and did not allow the owners to remove their belongings from their houses.

The operation was conducted during the night and most of the residents have been ordered to leave the land which apparently belongs to the government.

Most of them claim they have been living in the disputed land for the last 12 years and have nowhere to go.

Efforts to contact the officer in charge of the college Adan Abdullahi were not successful.
