Over 200 people rendered homeless following Homa Bay evictions

Over 200 residents of Ndhiwa were forced to spend Friday night in the cold following demolitions in Homa Bay County.

According to reverend Charles Haggai, one of the victims, residents were surprised to be evicted from by armed policemen.

“We were surprised to see three lorries full of armed police officers harassing people and demolishing our houses. We had not been issued with an eviction notice,” Said Haggai.

He said that for the past 37 years, they have been in and out of court fighting over ownership of that parcel of land. Haggai insisted that the court is yet to rule on the matter, hence the eviction is premature.

They appealed to the government to intervene and save them from their predicament.
