Over 30 families have been marooned following mudslides after River Muuoni, Makueni county burst its banks.

Residents in Kilungu are being urged to move to higher ground even as roads are rendered impassable due to the heavy rains.

“We are calling on the Government and humanitarian agencies to offer emergency services as soon as possible,” Mr. Patrick Mbevi, the area county assembly member said.

Kikuu River in Nzaui sub-county also burst its banks and paralysed transport along the Wote-Makindu Road.

Motorists were stuck on both sides of the road at Kiangini Bridge for several hours. Those approaching that section have been urged to use alternative routes.
