Over 30 injured in Mombasa-bound bus accident

Over 30 people were injured Monday morning in an accident near Airport South Road along the busy Nairobi – Mombasa Highway.

According to St John’s Ambulance Communication Officer Fred Majiwa, most of those injured were students heading back to schools after the August holidays.

It is reported that the passenger’s bus lost control rolling several times.

The bus driver is said to have fled immediately after the incident.

The injured were treated as most of them sustained only minor injuries.

Meanwhile, two people have been reported dead at Murubara area along the Mwea – Embu road, following a road accident involving a car and a bicycle Monday morning.

According to Mwea East OCPD Titus Yoma, the deceased were on a bicycle heading to Ngurubani, before they were knocked by the vehicle which was heading in the same direction.

The driver of the car is being held at Wang’uru police station for interrogation.

Residents living along the Embu – Mwea Road have asked the government to erect bumps in order to reduce the number of road accidents.
