Over 30 vehicles impounded for flouting traffic rules

Over 30 vehicles were on Friday, April 7 impounded in Kisii town in a crackdown that was conducted by a joint team of traffic police, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials.

Speaking to the media, Kisii Central Traffic Commander, Eric Kithinji, said some of the Probox vehicles impounded did not have a yellow band as required for PSV vehicles.

The commander said the vehicles, majority of them Toyota Probox, were carrying out public transport business without PSV licenses.

He said other vehicles especially caravans, were operating without motor vehicle insurance, inspection certificates among many other such documents.

Kithinji said the crackdown will continue from time to time to ensure safety in public transport.
