Over 3,000 people killed, 10K injured on Kenyan roads this year  NTSA

More than 3,000 people have been killed and over 10,000 injured in road accidents this year.

This is according to the latest statistics by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) which indicate that a total of 3,225 people died and 10,825 were injured on Kenyan roads between January 1 and December 1, 2019.

During the same period last year, the number was lower with 2,827 people having died and 8,954 injured.

Out of the 3,225 victims who died in road accidents this year, the majority were pedestrians at 1,247 followed by motorcyclists at 660 and passengers at 644.

The number of pillion passengers killed this year was recorded at 299 while pedal cyclists were 67.

Among the 10,825 reported to have been injured this year, 6,183 were serious injuries while 4,642 sustained slight injuries.
