Property worth over Ksh 20m destroyed in Rongai fire

Residents of Sweet Water area in Ongata Rongai are counting losses after an early morning fire gutted down at least 40 structures.

According to eyewitnesses, efforts to put out the fire were futile, as no fire engines from the neighboring Ngong Town arrived in time to help control the inferno.

Looters are also reported to have taken advantage of the situation to make away with goods from local shops and bars.

Police, however, moved in with speed to control and ward off the looters. with the cause of the fire yet to be known.

No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
