Pakistani Woman Stoned to Death In Broad Daylight
The woman was stoned to death in broad daylight outside a court room
The husband of the woman is accusing the police of watching the incident without taking action
The deceased, Farzana Parveen, who was three months pregnant had arrived at the court to defend her husband.
Her family had signed a case against her husband accusing him of kidnapping her.
Upon her arrival at the court, her family tried to forcefully take her away.
She however fought back and tried to free herself from family members.
She was however dragged on to the floor, pelted with bricks and then smashed her head
The husband of the deceased termed the police inaction as shameful and inhuman
"We were shouting for help, but nobody listened. One of my relatives took off his clothes to capture police attention but they didn't intervene. They watched Farzana being killed and did nothing." the husband said
The husband had to be escorted to bury his wife because Parveen's family threatened to snatch her body.
Marrying against the will of your family in Pakistan is unthinkable in many conservative communities.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan says that 869 women were murdered in “honor killings” last year in Pakistan.
However it believes that the figure could be much higher.
