Panic in Uasin Gishu over earth tremors

There was panic among residents In Timborua and Tulwet in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County after frequent earth tremors were experienced in the area on Tuesday morning.

Speaking to journalists, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi said that tremor experts and disaster management team have been dispatched to the area to establish causes of the tremor.

“We have informed our officers who specialize in such incidences so that they can give a report on what caused the tremors.”

Abdi, however, urged residents to remain calm but remain vigilant for their own safety as heavy rains continue.

He further added that five dams in Kerita, Kaplegetet and Koitoror have been filled to capacity and residents should be on the lookout to avoid a disaster.

The Commissioner indicated that officers from the county and national government have been informed and are on standby.
