Parents who took daughter to jail over night dance return to horror of defilement claims

A police officer, Stanley Kipsang, who is accused of defiling a 16 year old in Ratta, Seme has been released.

The 32-year-old is said to have defiled the Form One student after she was brought to the station.

She had reportedly attended a night dance and was to stay in jail as punishment.

However, when her parents went back to the station to pick her up, the girl claimed that she had been defiled.

The officer allegedly took her to his house and defiled her repeatedly.

On Wednesday, the suspect appeared before Kisumu Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charges  and is to be released on Ksh. 400,000 bond.

Kipsang is to be remanded at a Kakamega prison as requested by his lawyer until he presents the bond.

Senior Principal Magistrate Ondieki directed that the matter be mentioned on February 26 and heard on March 4.
