Parliament resumes sittings after three week recess

The National Assembly resumed it’s sittings on Wednesday 29th November, after a three week recess.

The legislators who are coming back in Parliament with a tight schedule are expected to look into among other things the County Allocation of Revenue before they break again for the long Christmas holidays.

In the August House business lined up, is the County Allocation of Revenue (Amendment) Bill which was approved by the Senate.In the 2017/2018 financial year, 345 billion shillings was approved for disbursement to the counties but the funds are yet to be released.

The MPs are also expected to form the Appointment Committee that will vet Cabinet Secretaries when President Uhuru Kenyatta names nominees to his cabinet.

Opposition NASA coalition has however instructed the opposition MPs not to take part in the vetting of Uhuru’s nominees to the cabinet.
