Parliament Wants County Govts Act Amended Over Ethnicity

Speaking during a joint news conference with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, the parliamentary committee also recommended the inter-county transfer of special and competent staff to further enhance national unity and cohesion.

The recommendations comes in the wake of revelations of how 29 out of the 47 counties in the country have contravened the law by hiring most of their staff from one ethnic community.

The report by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission has also revealed that 16 out of the 47 counties have their cabinet made up of members of one community and 21 counties have their public service board members from one community.
