Passenger bus kills traffic cop on Nairobi- Mombasa Highway

A traffic police officer died on Thursday evening after he was ran over by a bus at Ndara area on the Nairobi- Mombasa Highway.

The officer was reportedly standing in the middle of road manning traffic and while his attention was on another vehicle, he was hit by a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction.

Confirming the 4pm incident, Voi OCPD Joshua Chesire said the driver of the bus, which was heading to Mombasa from Nairobi, was arrested and would be arraigned in court on Friday.

Passengers were transferred to another vehicle as police impounded the ill-fated bus.

The body of the deceased officer was moved to the Moi Referral Hospital in Voi.
