Pastor in trouble for faking documents to get land

A pastor in Meru County has been suspended from conducting any church activities after he produced forged documents in court to obtain a title deed.

The AIPCA Ruthatene Church Pastor, David Mwiti, produced documents in Meru High Court indicating that he was the sole surviving family member.  The court concluded the case and he was given a document which authorized him to acquire the title deed.

However, his mother and three sisters are still alive.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, his step-sister, Lucy Gakii said their father died leaving two wives behind. The two widows were given an equal share of land but after her mother and younger brother’s death their step brother took the portion of their land.

The pastor’s mother, Phyllis Nkatha condemned the letter. She however claims that it was the clan’s decision to award the ownership of the seven acre plot to her late husband’s the only surviving son (Mr. Mwiti).

Suspended from church activity

Speaking yesterday at AIPCA Ruthatene Church in Meru County, Kibirichia Parish secretary Stephen Bundi condemned the act citing that the pastor has been suspended from all church activities pending investigations.

“We were surprised to hear our pastor took an oath stating that his real mother is dead and yet she is alive. We were forced to suspend him until he solves the issue,” he said.

A committee was formed to probe the pastor before determining if he will resume duty or be expelled from the church.

Forged documents

Kiamiogo Location Chief Mwongera Ikiugu said the case was presented in his office a few years ago but he was unable to solve it because the pastor insisted on acquiring the title deed.

He added that the letter used by Mr. Mwiti in court to acquire a title deed was forged and the lawyer who handled the case must be answerable.

According to the Chief, the pastor forged his signature on the letter that he presented before the court.

The family members are now demanding for an immediate intervention from the Ministry of Lands because they have been given a notice to vacate the piece of land immediately.

Efforts to reach the accused pastor were futile because his phone was off.
