Pastor jailed seven years for fraud

A pastor in Embu has been sentenced to seven years in jail for defrauding a woman off Sh550,000.

Pastor Robert Karanja Kamau was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Samuel Mutai and found guilty of seven charges, including forgery and pretext with the intention to defraud Mary Ruguru.

The court heard that on the 1st of April last year at the National Bank of Kenya Embu branch, the pastor along with his accomplices obtained Sh555,000 from the woman with a false promise of selling her a car.
