Pastor James Ng’ang’a arrested over killer accident

Televangelist James Ng’ang’a has been arrested by police and taken to CID headquarters for grilling over an accident that killed one person and left another injured.

Pastor Ng’ang’a was arrested a few minutes after filing a case at the High Court seeking to block his arrest following recommendations by the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to have him charged over the killer accident that allegedly involved his vehicle.

The arrest came hours after the embattled pastor moved to court to file a petition preventing his arrest.

Through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta and Nyakundi, Pastor Ng’ang’a wanted the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko barred from arresting and prosecuting him respectively pending the hearing and determination of his application.

The apostle alleged that Boinett had issued a public statement in which he identified driver of the range rover that killed a woman at Mangua area in Limuru along Naivasha-Nairobi road as Simon Kuria.

He further claim that the IG changed his statement to match that in the media only after there was intense public campaign against Ng’ang’a spearheaded by the public through the media.

Pastor Ng’ang’a alleged that contradictory statements by Boinett had exposed him to humiliation, embarrassment and tarnishing of his image.

The case had been certified urgent with Justice Weldon Korir directing that court papers be served to the IG and DPP pending hearing of the case tomorrow August 20, 2015.
