Pastor James Ng’ang’a freed on Ksh1M bond

Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Church has been released on bail pending hearing of a case in which he is charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Limuru Court Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Tanchu has released Pastor Ng’ang’a on a 500,000 shilling cash bail or a one million shilling bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The magistrate said the prosecution failed to provide sufficient reasons why Ng’ang’a should be denied bail as he had cooperated with police during investigations into the Limuru accident that killed Mercy Njeri.

Simon Kuria (who claims to have been driving the car that caused the Tigoni accident),  police officers Christopher Nzioka and Patrick Baya, who have been accused of conspiring to cover up the crash, have also been released on a Ksh50, 000 cash bail each, or a 100 thousand shilling bond with a surety of a similar amount.

This comes after reports that gunmen raided the pastor’s Karen home early Friday morning, stealing an unspecified amount of money and valuables.
