Pastor James Ng’ang’a sued by lawyer over pay

Embattled televangelist James Ng’ang’a’ woes are far from over after city lawyer Cliff Ombeta sued him over unpaid dues.

Ombeta, who was the televangelist’s lawyer in the case where he (Ng’ang’a) is accused of causing death through careless driving, claimed that his former client owed him Ksh 5.1 million in legal fees.

The counsel, who seized to represent the preacher citing lack of cooperation, said that Ng’ang’a was financially able to pay him, which is why he had moved to court.

The July accident claimed the life of Mercy Njeri and severely injured her husband. Witnesses alluded that the Neno Evangelism Centre Pastor was on the wheels when the accident happened.

The pastor denied presence at the scene of crime and ownership of the Range Rover vehicle involved in the tragic accident.

Ng’ang’a was arrested, charged with causing death through careless driving and later released on a cash bail of Ksh 500,000.

Lawyer Ombeta withdrew from the case citing lack of clear directions in the case against his client.

The lawyer allegedly claims Ng’ang’a has failed to co-operate and has since refused to pick his calls and respond to emails.

Mr. Ombeta was also representing Police Inspector Christopher Nzioka, who is charged alongside Pastor Ng’ang’a.

Nzioka is charged alongside police officer Patrick Baya for allegedly covering up evidence that implicated Ng’ang’a and neglecting their official duty.

They are also facing additional charges of giving false information.

The televangelist allegedly caused an accident at Manguo area in Limuru, that killed a woman, Ms. Mercy Njeri, and left her husband with serious injuries.

Ng’ang’a will now continue being represented by lawyer Assa Nyakundi.

The accident case is pending in court.
