Pastor Pius Muiru’s mother killed

The body of Pastor Muiru’s mother Grace, Wangari Mwangi, was on Thursday afternoon found buried in a shallow grave next to her house in Karika Village in Kangema, Murang’a County, Kigumo OCPD Ali Zimbi has confirmed.

Police officers made the shocking discovery after being led to the scene by two suspects – Ms Mwangi’s guard and daughter-in-law – who were arrested after the woman went missing.

Ms Mwangi, 75, went missing from her Karika Village home, last weekend, in mysterious circumstances.

Her body has since been taken to Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary.

The guard, who worked for Ms Mwangi for more than ten years, alleged that he was not directly involved in Ms Mwangi’s murder, but was given the job of digging the grave by the woman’s daughter-in-law, without knowing the purpose of the grave.

Residents claim that Ms Mwangi was a good neighbour, who related well with people – and that they were shocked to learn of her brutal murder.

Pastor Pius Muiru, who has since learnt of his mother’s death, was seen at Ms Mwangi’s home Wednesday evening.

OCPD Ali Zimbi says investigations have since been launched into the murder of Ms Mwangi, and that the two suspects will continue being in police custody to assist the police probe into Ms Mwangi’s death.
