Pastor told by God not to take children to school arrested

Five members of the Tabernacle Under the Sun Church in Sachangwan, Molo have been arrested for failing to take their children to school.

The five, who include a Pastor identified as Erick Kirui, were arrested inside the Church Monday, January 23 evening after they defied orders by the area chief to take their children to school.

The chief in charge of Sachangwan location, Evans Mageto, told Citizen Digital on phone that five children were also arrested during the evening swoop.

He said that the church has been in operation for some time adding that efforts to convince the members to take their children to school bore no fruits as they insisted it was against their belief.

Mageto said that the church members insisted they had been instructed by ‘God’ to stay with their children inside the church for the whole of this year where they were to engage in prayers .

They were also to fast during the period and also not to take any medication when they fall sick during the time of fasting.

The administrator said that investigation were underway to establish from the Registrar of Societies if the church was registered.

The suspects were taken to Rongai Police Station.

One suspect who managed to escape during the raid is being sought by police.
