Peter Kenneth rejects Nairobi Jubilee primaries results

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant and former Gatanga Member of Parliament, Peter Kenneth, has rejected the outcome of the Jubilee Party primaries, terming the process a sham.

In a statement to newsrooms, Kenneth said the nominations were marred with malpractices and now wants the results cancelled and the exercise repeated.

He added that the use of National ID cards by voters resulted to voter infiltration coupled with cases of multiple voting, contrary to guidelines issued by the Jubilee Party Secretariat.

He also cited importation of voters from Kajiado and Machakos Counties, even as polling stations opened late and closed prematurely, perpetrating further electoral fraud.

Kenneth is trailing Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko even as counting of the votes continues.

Reports had indicated that Kenneth was Jubilee’s preferred candidate but a move by the Jubilee Party to convince Sonko to step down in his favour failed with the later insisting that he would not go for anything less.

The winner will face off with the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) Evan Kidero, who is the city county’s Governor.
