Peter Munya Removed As Meru Governor

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has received the certificate of nullification for the Meru County governor from the court of appeal pursuant to the provisions section 86 of the elections act, 2011.

In accordance to the constitution, the commission has forwarded the letter, together with the certificate to the speaker of the Meru County assembly.

The letter from IEBC has been copied to the transition authority as required by law, to ensure the county speaker assumes office, in acting capacity, until the by-election is held.

The date for the by-election will be set and announced in due course.
