Petition filed by people with disabilities dismissed

A Nanyuki Magistrate’s Court has dismissed with costs a petition filed by People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) seeking to nullify the nomination of five MCAs to the Laikipia County Assembly.

PLWD had filed the petition on grounds that people with special needs were not represented.

While delivering her judgement, Magistrate Lucy Mutai said that there was already an elected MCA, Stephen Kamau Kagondu, who is living with a disability.

The court slapped the petitioner, Dennis Kaniaru with a Ksh.2 million fine to be paid to the respondents.
