The board, in a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, said the officers were accosted when they stopped to inspect a pharmacy in the area in a bid to ensure compliance by the outlet.

They were, however, rescued from the mob by the area chief and police.

“The Board’s mission is to protect the health of the public by regulating the profession of pharmacy and ensuring quality, safety, and efficacy of medical products and health technologies,” read the statement.

“Therefore, inspections of this kind are aimed at protecting the public from unscrupulous people out to endanger the lives of Kenyans.”

The board further criticized the incident, urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their hands and to cooperate in giving information on illegal premises.
