PHOTOS: Millie Odhiambo causes a scene, talks tough after ejection from Parliament
Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo caused a stir Thursday afternoon after she was ordered out of Parliament for apparently disrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address.
Upon being ordered to withdraw from Parliament by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Millie stormed out and made her way to journalists who were waiting to interview her.
“I have parked my car this side, you cannot stop me from using this door,” the outspoken Legislator was heard telling a security officer who tried to force her to use a different door.
After making his way out of the building, Millie spoke of her displeasure with the way Jubilee government was running the government accusing President Kenyatta of intimidating the opposition.
“Jubilee has resorted to govern the country in a manner that has deprived Kenyans of their human rights. The harassment of Governor Joho is a clear indication of how the government is trying to intimidate the Opposition into submission,” the evidently irked legislator said.
Millie was later joined by ODM chairman John Mbadi, Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang among other legislators who had also been ejected from the House for disrupting the President’s speech.
In his pronouncement, Kajwanga said that being a temporary Speaker, he knows the Standing Orders adding that his decision to carry placards is a sign that he was exasperated by Jubilee’s style of leadership.
“Uhuru has reached an intolerable level. The Constitution is supreme and the President should not act in a manner that defies it,” claimed Kajwang.
Mbadi, in his brief, accused President Kenyatta of laxity in securing the country saying the recent invasion of Ugandan soldiers into Migingo Island should not be tolerated.
“We will not listen to PR any more. Kenyans are tired and they want action. Migingo has been invaded by Ugandan police and yet the president is talking about security,” said Mbadi.
