The 53rd Madaraka Day celebrations will be held at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, for the first time in history, in a move that is aimed at devolving the event to the counties.

The celebrations will be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto with several cabinet secretaries, governors, legislators and diplomats expected to attend.

On Tuesday, preparations in and around Afraha Stadium were in top gear with contractors putting final touches to the facility in readiness for the event.
