PHOTOS: Tight security in KOgelo ahead of Obama visit
Nothing is being taken to chance when it comes to the protection of former US President Barack Obama.
Heavy security was deployed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and K’Ogello in Siaya County at the Sauti Kuu Foundation Centre – where he will be the Chief Guest during the vocational training centre’s launch – as well as at his grandmother Mama Sarah’s home.
At the Sauti Kuu Centre, there are at least half a dozen lorries carrying GSU officers and an almost equal number of vehicles from the US embassy with more security personnel. Secret Service officials are also in sight to oversee smooth running of the former President’s visit.
There are also two roadblocks, half-a-kilometer apart, along the road leading to the institute. To gain access past the roadblocks, one is required to have very high level clearance.
Among those said to be accompanying Obama during his Kenya trip are representatives from the National Basketball Association (NBA) led by Masai Ujiri, President of the Toronto Raptors.
