Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye was Monday afternoon arrested as he tried to access the venue of his rally in Kampala, Uganda.

The arrest has raised tension in Kampala with police shooting in the air and firing teargas to disperse protesting youth who are calling for his release.

One person has sustained bullet wounds with others injured.
