Pick us or else! Midiwo, Gumbo threaten to seek Plan B

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and his Rarieda counterpart Nicholas Gumbo have threatened to pursue an alternative option, should the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) fail to award them nomination certificates.

The two leaders – both of whom failed to clinch the party ticket in the recently concluded nominations – have protested the results claiming that there was mass rigging in the exercise.

Speaking in Siaya County Saturday, Midiwo accused Party leader Raila Odinga’s elder brother – Nominated MP Oburu Odinga – of meddling in the primaries.

Should ODM’s National Elections Board fail to award them nomination certificates by the end of 30th April, the two have vowed to seek alternative options.

Accompanied by Florence Aluodo who also lost the Women Representative ticket, the leaders said that they will neither beg for nomination certificates, nor file petitions with the board.

Gumbo added that it is hypocritical for the party to uphold the results of the ongoing exercise despite claims of electoral fraud, especially since the same party condemned national poll body IEBC for doing the same.

Despite these sharp criticisms, the leaders stated that they stand firmly behind NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga as he seeks to ouster President Uhuru Kenyatta in August.
