PICTORIAL: CORD leaders storm Malindi police station over arrest of MCA
CORD principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka stormed the Malindi Police Station demanding for immediate release of Marereni Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yassin Pojo who was arrested Thursday evening.
Odinga and Musyoka camped at the police station until Pojo was released a few minutes past midday.
According to reports, Pojo was arrested for allegedly planning to engage in voter bribery and rigging in the Monday’s Malindi Parliamentary by-election.
However, police refused to disclose the reasons for the arrest despite CORD mounting pressure on them to do so.
Odinga and Musyoka were accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho and Kilifi County’s Amason Kingi among other leaders.
Pojo was elected on a Jubilee ticket but is now allied to the CORD coalition.
