Pictures: Uncertainty over teachers strike as schools reopen

A cross section of teachers in several parts of the country stayed away from schools even as parents followed a court directive that said learning would resume as normal on Thursday.

A spot check by Citizen Digital found children in a number of schools spending their morning in the playground as teachers failed to kick off learning on the first day of the education calendar this year.

Some parents, who may have been unsure of the teachers strike, however kept their children at home even as others found it difficult to make the trip to school as operators hiked fares in parts the country.

A few students who were lucky enough to get to school and find their tutors ready to teach resumed classes. Below are pictures from around the country:
