Pius Muirus mother murder suspects detained

Kigumo Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate, Agnes Mwangi, has allowed the police to hold Pius Muiru’s mother murder suspects, Ezekiel Saitambua and Monica Muthoni, in custody for 14 days to allow them complete investigations.

Speaking at Kigumo Law Courts, Kigumo Police station Crime Department boss, Inspector Mwangi, who swore an affidavit, told the court that investigations are in early stages and that vital statements have not yet been recorded.

He said they had only managed to conduct preliminary investigations thus request the court to give them more time to conduct thorough and impartial investigations.

The matter was reported at Kigumo Police Station and Mr Saitambua, was arrested on Wednesday, March 22 after he was allegedly found in possession of the deceased mobile phone after police traced it.

Saitambua later revealed that Wangari had been killed and buried days ago in a process implicating her daughter-in-law, Monica Muthoni, who is currently being held in the same Police Station.

On Thursday, March 23, he pointed out the location of the grave, which was about 70 meters from the deceased’s house following which the police exhumed Grace Wangari’s body from a shallow grave behind a cowshed in her farm where she had been buried after being murdered.

Saitambua, 33, who worked as security guard is said to have been the deceased’s most trusted worker and Ms Monica Muthoni, 36, who was implicated by Saitambua, is her daughter-in-law.

The suspect will return to court on April 7.
